October 19th, 26th, 11/2, 11/9, 11/16 & 11/30 CCM Independence Connection Session - LakeShore Public Library 6:00pm - 6:30pm Weekly classes for adolescents who could benefit from life skills training to support their independence. This class will focus on training the brain to make sense of what is heard, to improve listening and comprehension skills. Strategies will be learned and practiced: rehearsal, chunking, visualization, & association. This class will focus on emotional well-being, coping strategies, & improving communication skills for social interactions with peers and adults. Taught through explicit instruction, role play, & carry-over tasks. This class runs for 8 weeks. This cooking class will be geared to help individuals with disabilities gain various skills within a kitchen. This class will focus on: basic kitchen skills, healthy choices, kitchen safety, food in relation to health. We will be making a veggie tray and a smoothie, as an example of an easy independent snack to make. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080d4ba5a922abf58-independence Sunday October 23rd CCM Sensory Connection Northtowns - Sweet Charlotte's 1:30 to 2:30pm Come join The Collaborative Community Mission on Sunday, October 23rd, from 1:30 - 2:30 PM for our Sensory Connection in the Northtowns at Sweet Charlotte's.
